Can you read this?
It was the first day at my 2nd college. I had “partied” out of the 1st university and came home with the idea of not finishing school. My father had other plans sending me to a “Bible College.” I enrolled in David Lipscomb College where everyone was required amount of “Bible classes” to graduate.
So I bought a Bible along with all the other text books. This Bible was a daunting looking thing written in King’s English, like reading Shakespeare. I could read it, but on the other hand, I couldn’t read it.
The book was discouraging before I even got started. Me and my Bible struggled together through that Spring quarter. It was just a text book of information I had to learn in order to pass, nothing more than that.
Until I encountered the One it was about. That was a game changer in every sort of way. All of a sudden the dead words of my Bible came alive, and not because I bought a easier to read version. For me I credit that understanding to the Holy Spirit that came with my new faith. “The eyes of my heart” were opened by the Lord.
If we truly want to understand the Word’s of God, then we must first humble ourselves like the blind man and say “Lord I want to see.” Only His Spirit, Who inspired the Book, can teach you what’s in it.
God gives grace to the humble, and gives insights and wisdom to those who ask for it. The Holy Spirit is the best commentary of the Word.
