Jesus doesn’t do uber.
The one thing that I have noticed in 44 years of studying Jesus is that He isn’t among the Uber religious. If He is, it isn’t for long, as seen in the passage below. In fact most of Jesus’ ministry was with the masses outside of religious settings. There was a reason.
About a year ago I had a dream that I was helping people escape an unhealthy religious place by scaling a wall. Then I proceeded to hand supplies over the same wall. When it was finally my turn to climb up and over there was no one to help. I grappled and strained until I had only one leg to pull up and over. About that time a bald man, who I can still see, ran and grabbed my leg pulling it to prevent my escape. I fought to free myself. Then...
I awoke and it was evident what I had dreamed. In my spirit I felt that I had the interpretation. (This is where I will loose some of you:) In the dream I was helping people escape the unhealthy situation that comes with the entrapment of man-pleasing religion. The people who got over the wall would find Jesus, outside, ministering to those that needed Him. As long as they stayed trapped in an unhealthy religious environment, then they would not find the One they needed. Jesus doesn’t do uber, He is not in man-pleasing religious places. He is on the other side of the wall, helping those that need Him.
Faye and I have been fortunate to find a place to worship Jesus, along with other escapees. People set free by Jesus from religion, who are going “outside” the walls to be the hands and feet of Christ. It is refreshing to say the least. That is where Jesus was then, and now, rescuing those that need Him.
The Writer of Hebrews says, “And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through His blood. Let us, then, go to Him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace He bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” Hebrews 13:12-14
Lord have mercy on me a sinner, and help my unbelief! Help me to leave my religion at the door and not taint your church. Let me go outside the walls today to where You are.
Your friend, from the heart, Clay
